The 2018 Stance ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship

December is always an exciting month for the team at Surfability UK CIC and not just because of the count down to Christmas. As the frosty mornings draw in, so does the anticipation of the Stance ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship.

The 2018 Championship took place in La Jolla, California and was attended by two of Surfability UK CIC’s elite surfers, Llywelyn “Sponge” Williams and Ethan Jolosa. Both surfers represented Wales with our very own company director, Ben Clifford attending as the Team Wales Manager and Toby Williams as the Team Wales Coach.

Soaked in California sunshine, the 5 day event welcomed a record number of teams from 24 nations and 120 adaptive surfers. Llywelyn “Sponge” Williams competed in the AS-2 (Stand/Kneel) category and Ethan Jolosa competed in the AS-4 (Prone) category. Sponge placed 3rd in his division bringing home a bronze medal, Ethan placed 12th in his division and Wales ranked a more than respectable 18th in the competition.

History was made on the La Jolla shores again this December and Surfability UK CIC couldn’t be prouder to have our surfers and team members be part of it.
